Approximately 170 km of the Bruce Trail winds its way through the Sydenham Club's section from Blantyre [Google Maps], through parts of Owen Sound & on to Wiarton [Google Maps].
25 Short Walks and Hikes
In celebration of our 50th Anniversary in 2012, the Sydenham Club has released the 2nd edition of its highly regarded loop and short hike guide. Now updated and expanded to include 25 enjoyable walks with maps, notes and narratives. A handy, pocket sized reference available through the club.
Each hike description includes key details such as the trail length, the estimated time of completion, the degree of difficulty, access routes, and parking. And beyond that, it explores the human and natural history of the area, such as nineteenth century grist mills, and the flora, fauna, ferns, and fossils found along the way.
All proceeds from the book will support the Bruce Trail Conservancy in its mission to secure in perpetuity a conservation corridor and public footpath along the Niagara Escarpment.
It sells for $20.00 and available at some of the local bookstores in the Owen Sound area, such as Ginger Press, and others. You can buy them from our Club Executive members (see PDF), or at Sydenham Club Open House events in the area.
